From May onwards the recitals will always be on the second Saturday of the month.
The May 13th concert will be given by Southcote Winds. A member of the group writes:
‘For this month’s coffee concert, Southcote Winds will offer a varied programme of music for wind quintet. Some pieces, such as the Wind Quintet opus 14 by Gustav Holst, were specifically written for the medium. Other pieces have been cleverly arranged for us and we can’t wait to share them with you. We shall move through the centuries with some movements from Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks, a section from Mozart’s ‘Kegelstatt’ trio, a medley of tunes from Sullivan’s ‘Mikado’ plus some 20th century popular pieces we think you will recognise.’
Coffee and cake will be served in the school room from 10.15am. The concert starts at 11am.
There is free admission, with donations invited towards the work of the church and the musicians.
