Vicki Field — Soprano

Vicki Field is a soprano with a reputation in the Gloucestershire area and beyond, for possessing a clear and attractive tone. As a soloist she specialises in the baroque repertoire, and she is also in demand as a consort and choral singer. She lives in Gloucester, where she is well-known as a singer, singing teacher and choral animateur. Vicki was the Lady Mayoress of Gloucester for the 2015/16 civic year.

Vicki currently directs the Ecclesiastical Insurance Staff Choir, who have performed in Gloucester Cathedral and other local venues.  In October 2016 Vicki directed the choir in a concert with popular artist Vonda Shepard. With her husband Sebastian she also co-directs the Vocality Youth Choir, a choir for secondary-school age young people. Vicki and Sebastian founded the City of Gloucester Community Choir in 2016, which takes part in many city and civic events in Gloucester. For twelve years Vicki co-directed Gloucester Cathedral Junior Choir, and the cathedral’s outreach programme.

As a consort singer, Vicki has worked with ensembles such as Musica Beata in Oxford, the John S Davies Singers in Cardiff and Pembrokeshire, and Aldwyn Voices in Malvern and Tewkesbury. Vicki and Sebastian have recently founded Gaudeamus, a professional vocal group based in Gloucester, and Vicki is also a founder member of The Proteus Ensemble, directed by Stephen Shellard.

Recent solo engagements have included Bach’s St John Passion with Fairford & District Choral Society, Messiah in St Laurence’s Church Ludlow, Bach cantatas in Cheltenham with Ensemble Sine Nomine and the Corelli Ensemble, ‘Monteverdi’s Other Vespers’ during the 2013 Gloucester Three Choirs Festival, Dido and Aeneas in St Laurence’s Church, Ludlow, Israel in Egypt with Worcester Cathedral Chamber Choir, recitals in Gloucester and Hereford, a coffee-concert lecture recital for Dr Warwick Cole, and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater during the Gloucester Music Festival. In the 2016 Gloucester Three Choirs Festival Vicki was a soloist in the lecture concert ‘Gloster Gossip’, narrated by Quentin Letts and Revd. Stephen Williams. 

Vicki was a soloist in a recent concert in Gloucester Cathedral with the band Fairport Convention, and is the Musical Director of the Malaika Choir who backed the group. She is choir leader for the SPACES Gloucester project, a community and heritage based music initiative.
