The Proteus Ensemble – Elgar Part Songs and Readings

🗓️ Saturday 12 July 2025

🕥 11:30am

📍 St Mary de Crypt, Gloucester

Join us for a free Coffee Concert with the Proteus Ensemble, directed by Stephen Shellard. The programme features Edward Elgar’s part songs, including There is Sweet Music, My Love Dwelt in a Northern Land and many more.

These works are extremely rarely performed one to a part, as Elgar intended. Proteus’s acclaimed recording of this repertoire on Avie Records was described as “exceptional” by Choir & Organ magazine.

The performance will be interspersed with readings.

Admission is free, with donations invited. Coffee and cake available beforehand.

Presented as part of the series Gloucester Coffee Concerts at St Mary de Crypt.
