Gaudeamus return to St Mary’s Much Cowarne with an evening of music spanning eight centuries of song.

From the sacred richness of medieval England and the Tudor court, through Shakespeare and English part song, to the close harmonies of the twentieth century, this programme traces the changing sound of vocal music across the ages.

Alongside works by Byrd, Dunstable and Henry VIII, the concert includes Robert Lucas Pearsall’s radiant Lay a Garland, English favourites by Elgar and Sullivan, and more recent classics including Yesterday and Billy Joel’s And So It Goes.

Ancient and modern, sacred and secular, reflective and joyful, all woven together in the beautiful setting of St Mary’s Church.

Free admission. Donations invited for the church and performers. Refreshments served afterwards in the church.
